The first extract is dated 19 January 1862, the next 19 February 1862; then 21 March 1862, 9 April, 13 July, 19 August and 22 August. At the top of the first page Jemima has written, "Extract from a letter from Dr Bleek to myself [J. Lloyd], dated Cape Town 19 January 1862 ". The extracts describe Wilhelm Bleek's appointment as the Grey Librarian.
