Drawings, Watercolours, Objects
This section includes the drawings, watercolours, and objects made by ǁkabbo, Diaǃkwain, ǀhanǂkass'o and the ǃkun boys nanni, Tamme, ǀuma and Da. The first drawing, a family of ostriches, was made for Wilhelm Bleek and Lucy Lloyd by Diaǃkwain in 1875. There after Diaǃkwain and ǀhanǂkass'o made 56 more drawings. Between 1879 and 1881, ǃnanni, Tamme, ǀuma, and Da made 524 drawings and watercolours. The ǃkun drawings should be consulted in conjunction with the ǃkun notebooks (see Magdaleen du Toit's curation "Stiff as paint, without sufficient water"). This section also includes a collection of small clay sculptures made by the ǃkun boys, which are part of the Iziko South African Museum's collection. Watercolours, drawings and objects made by other authors can be found under the collection titled other documents.
