Correspondence
A letter in German from Wilhelm Bleek to his cousin Ernst Haeckel, sent from Cape Town on 18 September 1868. Bleek directs Haeckel to Mr DJ May, who is commanding a ship researching the ocean floor for the English government and may have the material Haeckel needs. He describes meeting May in 1854 during the Niger-Tshadda expedition and gives biographical details. Bleek enquires after "On the Origin of the Language" and notes Haeckel's publication on the origin of the human species.
