Notes

For further information, consult p. 152 of the Quarterly Bulletin of the South African Library, Volumes 21-23 (1969), where the footnotes posit that 'various people must have contributed to this genealogical publication, without an editor, hence the conflicting statements within a few pages.' A Xeroxed typewritten note reads: '(Brighton Herald Office) -- The genealogy of the Van der Poel [...] (Brighton 1891). -- Xerox copy. Only one original copy of the book is known which is now in the library of the Koninklijk Nederlandsch Genootschap voor Geslacht- en Wapenkunde, the Hague, Netherlands. This is a [X]erox copy made from this only copy.' The endnote was either left by the Brighton Herald Office or possibly, the heraldist and genealogist, Cornelis Pama. The 'Weynichman' spelling, not Weijnichman or Weÿnichman, prompts the right search results for a family connected to Rolde (in Drenthe, Netherlands).
