<i>...further described the value attached, by the Bushmen, to Ss'ó/õä found in the possession of Baboons; also its great use to the latter. The hair of the Baboon considered as a charm (L V.-24. 5957-5967). </i>Baboons keep Ssho |oa (ss'o |a) in their cheek, which people take out and keep when they kill them. They believe that this stick of Ssho |oa prevents the baboon from feeling pain and illness. Baboons live long and don't know illness, but if they do get ill it is severe and kills them.
