Summary

People become spirits when they die. A dead man has a mere spirit as well as an other which is a snake. Spirit-animals live near graves. If a man dies he becomes a snake. Men also become snakes when bitten by them ('and his snake is a spirit'). If a woman dies she becomes a mere spirit unless she dies of a snakebite in which case she becomes a snake. Mere spirits go away.
