Publications and Reports
This fonds folder contains correspondence between Lucy Lloyd and Roland Trimen from 1878 to 1879, accompanied by notes on bovids, rodents, insects, arachnids, and reptiles, as well as occasional rough sketches and unrelated doodles. Trimen was a naturalist and former curator of the South African Museum (1873-1895), succeeding Edgar Leopold Layard (Fenwick, 2017: 17; Seeman, 1915: 279; Jobling, 2010: 390). This correspondence with Trimen sought to, where possible, conclusively identify the scientific names of fauna in Bleek and Lloyd's 'Bushman researches' in preparation for the 1911 publication of 'Specimens of Bushman folklore', the project's definitive work.
