"Notes on Books, &c. Specimens of Bushman Folklore. Collected by the late W.H.I. Bleek and L.C. Lloyd and edited by the latter. (George Allen & Co.)" The "Notes and Queries" writer summarises the volume's 468 pages as containing "mythology, legends, songs and narratives", plus English translations. They comment on the adaptability of the Bushmen to the "natural order of things" until the intrusion of other races. The author summarises two narratives: the first, drawn from the personal history section of the publication which appears after the folklore section, illustrates the Bushman's capacity for feeling. The second example - a tale of the Early Race - demonstrates the Bushman's capacity for suffering. According to the author these narratives demonstrate the maturity possible in these otherwise "simple", "childlike" people. The author goes on to compare a few developments of Bushman belief with European folklore and ends with a comparison between the Bushman deference to the new moon and English traditions when looking at it. "Pp.358 & 359" is hand-written above the article. The scrapbook page features the handwritten number 14 in the top right-hand corner. In the top left corner of the clipping, to the left of "Notes and Queries", appears the printed text "11 S.IV. Oct.28, 1911.]"
