"Specimens of Bushman Folklore. Collected by the late W.H.I. Bleek and L.C. Lloyd. (Allen & Co.)" The "Athenaeum" writer begins by describing how reputed philologist Wilhelm Bleek devoted the last 5 years of his life to the study of the Bushmen (who also lived with him) and how a large amount of unpublished research was left to and continued by Lucy Lloyd (who acknowledged the help given by her nieces, Bleek's daughters). They go on to describe some of the content of the publication including typical examples of Bushman folklore, some of the themes and ideas narrated in them as well as beliefs and customs, the book's illustrations and the inclusion of original Bushman text. The article concludes by echoing Lloyd's hope that further volumes could be published in the future. The name of the publication and date are hand-written across the top of the article. The newspaper page is numbered 494 in print. The scrapbook page features the handwritten number 11 in the top right-hand corner.
