"Bushman Folklore." The "Cape Argus" writer praises the publication in terms of its potential appreciation by specialists as well as more general readers attracted by the curiosity of its stories and illustrations. The writer opines, however, that these readers should skip the Bushman text parts of the book while still admiring the work involved. The writer marvels at Bleek and Lloyd's mastery and recording of the Bushman tongue. They feel that the linguistic scholarship of the book surpasses the mere recording of folk tales and customs; that its main value and contribution to knowledge is as a record of the Bushman language. The author describes some of Bleek and Lloyd's labours then goes on to summarise some of the "curious" tales appearing in the volume in an effort to attract the public to a work that "deserves any reader it can get" in its "documenting of primitive reality". The author hopes Lloyd will be able to publish other volumes and that the work will inspire future efforts to recording the language by others. The scrapbook page features handwritten number 10 in top right-hand corner.
