Notes

Page 2 of a rough list of topics/titles for some of the leading articles by WHI Bleek, written in his own hand, for the English edition of Het Volksblad (from January 5th, ???? to July 28th, ????). n.d. MS. Unlike his lingustic and ethnographic work, his opinion pieces are mostly political in subject and tone. They were featured more infrequently before they began to appear more regularly on a Thursday, and occassionally on a Tuesday or Saturday. Bleek's political commentary is often critical of certain actors in the colonial or imperial governments, but also praises those who satisfy his subjective standards of "rectitude". Bleek's preparatory list expectedly deviates from Spohr's. Despite writing "Tsekelo Moshesh", his father was actually the focus of the June 9th (1864) article.
