"Stone Ages Past and Present. Study of Primitive Peoples." Henry Balfour, curator of the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, gives his presidential address to the Anthropology Section, at the British Association, on the value of archaeological research in South Africa. Balfour states that the sciences of ethnology and prehistoric archaeology must co-operate because 'living Stone Age' peoples like the Bushmen have much to show archaeologists about the ancient Stone Age. Balfour singles out "enlightening" Bushman research conducted by Dr Bleek, Orpen, Stow among others, "ably followed up by Miss Lloyd and Miss Bleek".
