Dorothea Bleek (loose clippings ), clippings (D. Bleek's loose ), rock art (D. Bleek's clippings on ), Leo Frobenius (his Rhodesian rock art hypothesis )
"The Rhodesian 'Ancients'. Strange Pictures and Tribal Legends. Dr. Frobenius Tells Results of Search." "The Star" describes how Frobenius gave details of the existence of an unknown civilisation in Southern Rhodesia in his address before the Anthropology Section entitled "Prehistoric, Archaeological and Historical Rock Paintings in South Africa". Using rock paintings from different civilisations as illustration, Frobenius claimed the Rhodesian civilisation was connected to Western Asian civilisations and Minoan. Miss Bleek, the "well-known authority on South African Bushmen" questioned Frobenius' conclusion that certain paintings represented kings. Slip of paper pasted underneath clipping reads: "International Press-Cutting Bureau, 51, Red Lion St., London, W.C.I. Extract from The Star Johannesburg, S.A. Date 31 July 1929 [stamped]."
