"Claimed for the Bushmen. Miss Bleek Disagrees With Dr. Frobenius." Dorothea Bleek, "the well-known authority on South African Bushmen", is reportedly unable to except Frobenius' conclusion that rock paintings found in Southern Rhodesia are connected to a civilisation entering SE Africa from the sea. In Bleek's opinion these are Bushmen paintings and influence probably came down from Bushmen in Tanganyika - the paintings are very similar. She also disagrees that some figures in the paintings represent kings - Bushmen have no kings nor a word for the idea of kingship. More examples from around Africa are needed before certainty is possible. She thanks Frobenius for exhibiting his "magnificent collection of these rock paintings".
