"Claimed for the Bushmen. Miss Bleek Disagrees With Dr. Frobenius." Dorothea Bleek, "the well-known authority on South African Bushmen", is reportedly unable to except Frobenius' conclusion that rock paintings found in Southern Rhodesia are connected to a civilisation entering SE Africa from the sea. In Bleek's opinion these are Bushmen paintings and influence probably came down from Bushmen in Tanganyika - the paintings are very similar. She also disagrees that some figures in the paintings represent kings - Bushmen have no kings nor a word for the idea of kingship. More examples from around Africa are needed before certainty is possible. She thanks Frobenius for exhibiting his "magnificent collection of these rock paintings". Slip of paper pasted underneath clipping reads: "International Press-Cutting Bureau, 51, Red Lion St., London, W.C.I. Extract from The Star Johannesburg, S.A. Date 1 Aug 1929 [stamped]."
