Genealogies

In Bleek's 1875 Report 'A brief account of Bushman folklore and other texts', he writes: A good many genealogical notes and portions of |xam family history have been taken down. From some of these materials, and from other sources, twelve genealogical diagrams (in oblong double folio) have been compiled, each giving all the known ancestors of one individual, frequently extending four, and sometimes five generations back. Also included are all the descendants of !kau||gō, (||kabbo's paternal grandfather) have been enumerated, with short personal histories in English, in a separate genealogical paper of 32 folio pages, closely written. An Index to the names contained in this genealogical list enumerates about 250 names (on 27 folio pages) but is incomplete. There is a list of |xam men at the Breakwater, with their |xam and Dutch names and a draught map of the country of the |xam.
