A letter from William Coates Palgrave to Lucy Lloyd dated 23 September 1877. In response to her enquiry, Palgrave informs Lloyd that Saul Shepherd, the only English-speaking Damara and his interpreter in 1876, died earlier that year. He sends her a photograph of Shepherd and his family, and another of "Old William Zwartboy" (Kuisip), Sir James Alexander's 1837 guide to "Walwich Bay". Palgrave also encloses his Report for forwarding to Sir James.
