Summary

A draft letter from Lucy Lloyd to Charles S Orpen, dated 22 July 1882 from Charlton House, Mowbray, concerning the late George W Stow's manuscript, notes and Bushman drawings. Lucy reports on Mr Trimen's meeting with Orpen's brother and proposes a publication plan so they may do "utmost justice to Mr Stow's labours". She suggests Stow's manuscript in Mr Murray's hands be returned to South Africa so she can read it, which will aid her own work. She proposes publication of the MS via the Smithsonian Institute, and that Stow's remaining notes (a "second work") and drawings be published together. Lucy offers to assist, especially if she visits Europe in 1883, and asks to study the notes to aid her preparation of Stow's pictures for publication. In a postscript she offers Orpen a copy of Wilhelm Bleek's Second Report.
