Summary

A letter from Jemima Bleek to Wilhelm Bleek, written from Kalk Bay on Monday night, 27 March 1871. She hopes he got through his tiring day and had a good meal, and she apologises for forgetting his "sponge etc. etc." that morning. She thanks him for the parcel from Mr van der Byl and encloses a note from Mr Trimen. Jemima reports feeling well since noon, likely due to the change in weather, and describes the activities of their small daughters Edith and Mabel. She received a note from Julia and, as she has to write to Fanny, ends with an affectionate apology for being so often cross with her "dear old lion". Later she resumes, writing that Lucy is in less pain, has been a comfort with Edith, is grateful for the note and parcel and sends love. On Tuesday morning, Jemima adds a note inside the flap of the envelope saying all is well there and goodbye.
