Summary

An undated and very brief note from Jemima Lloyd to Wilhelm Bleek, written inside the back flap of an envelope, in which she tells him to send over her instructions entitled "Lawyer 1". The front of this envelope is addressed to "Dr Wm Bleek". The envelope was sealed with Jemima's seal.

1.It is likely that this envelope contained a note/letter sent by Jemima in the days leading up to the wedding on 22 November 1862 after her arrival in the Cape. This is evident in her reference to the "instructions" and "lawyer" in the note: the marriage settlement was drawn up by their Cape lawyer, Mr Reid, a few days before the wedding. 2. Jemima refers to sending Wilhelm her seal in her letter to him of 17 November 1862 [see C8.32].
