Summary

A letter from Joyce van der Riet to Dorothea Bleek, from Grahamstown on 24 February 1932, concerning the copying of Bushman paintings. On Mr Hewitt's advice, the van der Riet sisters sketched paintings at a cave on a farm at Broxley[?] and will do more for the museum after completing the set. Joyce van der Riet describes tracing them and then painting them on the spot, resulting in exactness. She is happy to continue doing the paintings but would rather leave the price up to Dorothea. Van der Riet notes that petrol for driving the distances to the paintings must be taken into account. She has heard there are eight groups around the vicinity. She will send the Broxley[?] set by post after copying them for Mr Hewitt. Dorothea has noted, on the blank page opposite the final page of the letter, her pricing for the work.
