Correspondence
A typed copy (unsigned) of Dorothea Bleek's letter to Professor Louis Maingard, 18 May 1945, mainly regarding applying for funding to publish her Bushman Dictionary. Dorothea reports her meeting with Dr Isaac Schapera, Chairman of the Publications Committee at the University of Cape Town, and his attempts to secure funding for the publication of her Bushman Dictionary. However, the Council was unwilling to confirm the sum promised by the Committee. She reports on other advice given to her by Dr Schapera and asks Maingard for his advice about approaching the Research Grant Board. She also expresses gratitude for Maingard's suggestion of simplifying the spelling of the dictionary "examples", which has made its publication less expensive.
