A letter [copy?] from Dorothea Bleek to Isaac Schapera, 14 May 1947. Dorothea, having written to Louis Maingard concerning Zellig S Harris' "Veri-type" scheme for the American Oriental Society's publication of "A Comparative Dictionary of the Bushman Languages", reports Maingard's response to Schapera. He recommended Dorothea "close" with the American Oriental Society's offer and wrote to the Chairman of the Board, Smeath-Thomas, asking if it would honour the grant promised. Smeath-Thomas in turn consulted the Chairman of the reconstructed Board, who advised Dorothea to apply to the Council for Educational, Sociological and Humanistic Research in Pretoria, which she has done, also asking if they approve of the Varityper publication scheme. She awaits their response.
