A letter from Professor Louis Maingard to Dorothea Bleek from the University of the Witwatersrand, 5 April 1938. Maingard replies to Dorothea's queries regarding the Bushman language. This letter largely features Maingard's findings regarding the variability of Bushman sounds or phonetics. He also comments that his observations coincide with Dorothea's and informs her that he and the phonetics laboratory are doing further studies in Korana. Maingard proceeds to answer, in numbered form, Dorothea's questions. He also thanks her for her valuable work on the |'ammi people and asks about her dictionary progress.
