Correspondence
A letter from Joyce van der Riet to Dorothea Bleek, from Grahamstown on 29 April 1932, concerning the copying of Bushman paintings in the region. Joyce van der Riet confirms the date of their copying trip to Oudtshoorn and their intention to return via Humansdorp. She is sending Dorothea two sets of copies made near Grahamstown at farms called Mountain Top and Blaauwkrantz Drift. Van der Riet comments on the unusual contents of the set from Mountain Top and reports information given by the farmer. Mr Hewitt is taking them to Alicedale and Salem to copy there. She has heard of even more caves with good paintings but will ask Hewitt before copying them. She sends a sketch and photographs of sites mentioned in this letter.
