Summary

A letter in English from Wilhelm Bleek to Jemima Lloyd, sent in Cape Town and not dated but almost certainly on the afternoon of Sunday 16 November 1862. It concerns the drawing up of a marriage settlement and antenuptial contract before their wedding - he now thinks it neccessary to have both documents drawn up before the marriage and admits to mistakenly telling her they only had to sign the antenuptial contract beforehand. Wilhelm consults Jemima regarding which solicitor should draw up the documents, discussing Mr Fairbridge and Mr Reid. He refers to plans they made at an earlier meeting that day and his having first suggested the marriage settlement option to her Uncle Marmaduke in a letter.

Jemima Lloyd's Uncle Marmaduke holds her Power of Attorney and manages her affairs in England. 3. Messers Fairbridge and Reid are Cape solicitors consulted about the marriage settlement, etc.. 4. Wilhelm met Jemima at 11am that morning as per his earlier letter to her at "8 1/4 am Sunday" [see C4.25]).
