A letter from Jemima Bleek to Ernst Haeckel sent from Berlin on 27 September, probably in 1890. Jemima begins her letter by congratulating Haeckel on the arrival of a baby. The rest of the letter takes the form of Jemima's invitation for him (and Karl) to visit and dine with them and meet a "few friends". Her invitation includes suggestions of when that would best suit her and the family. Jemima signs the letter as his "affectionate cousin".

1. See letter C12.27 sent in February 1891, in which Jemima refers to seeing Haeckel the previous summer. By 1890 the Bleeks were living in Germany, Jemima having moved there with the children in 1884. 2. Karl is probably Ernst Haeckel's brother Karl Haeckel. 3. It is not clear whose baby it is, as Haeckel's youngest child is recorded as being born in 1873.
