Correspondence
A letter from Lucy Lloyd to Ernst Haeckel sent from Mowbray on 3 August 1876. Lloyd encloses newspaper articles and letters from Professor Max Müller and Dr Julius Jolly about the continuation of Wilhelm Bleek's work. She writes that Jemima has done her best with the appeal, and Bleek's friends have given them hope they can secure Jolly's services, despite Dr Dale refusing Jolly's offer without consulting the Grey Library Trustees. She reports Jemima's improving health, the baby's appearace and strength and Edith's illness. Despite no news yet on Jemima's pension, she has secured a £200 grant from the Colonial Legislature for printing Bushman Collections. Lloyd thanks Haeckel for his support raising funds and urges his continued influence. She shares their anxiety for the Grey Library's future and hopes Dr Jolly can continue Bleek's philological work, allowing her to return to the Bushman work full-time.
