Correspondence
A letter from Wilhelm Bleek to Sir George Grey, sent from Cape Town on 4 February 1863. Bleek apologises for the delay in writing and reports they have been awaiting news from Grey. He explains that Jemima's illness after their wedding required his care, but she is now improved. They moved into their New Street house and spent ten days at Rathfelder's during the heat. Bleek's employment status change has affected his library work, although he has translated the "Hottentot Fables" and offered them to his publisher. He updates Grey on the Grey Library installation and notes a lack of new native manuscripts, aside from contributions by Krönlein. He lists items he will send to Grey, including publications and catalogues. Bleek comments on Cape news and his friendship and respect for the Bishop of Natal. He closes with local greetings and adds a postscript about his improved health and an enclosed letter from Roland Trimen.
