Summary

A letter from Wilhelm Bleek to Sir George Grey, sent from Berlin on 16 July 1869. Bleek thanks Grey for a letter received in Bonn and explains they left early due to Jemima's sister Julia falling seriously ill in Berlin. Now staying with his aunt Charlotte and uncle Carl Haeckel, Bleek reports Julia's condition has improved. He has only seen Lepsius so far in Berlin. He lists Grey Library manuscript descriptions recently received by Cape Mail, which he will take to England due to their heaviness and high postage costs. On 17 July, Bleek adds that he visited the Royal Library, where Grey's library and its treasures were highly praised. He and Jemima plan to return to Bonn but are unsure when. Bleek ends by saying they anxiously await news of his "memorial" (likely the hoped-for pension).
