A letter from Wilhelm Bleek to Sir George Grey, sent from Cape Town on 29 May 1863. Bleek rejoices at receiving Grey's letter from New Zealand and thanks him, on behalf of himself and Jemima, for his congratulations on their marriage. He notes Grey's illness after an expedition and focuses on the Grey Library: books are being packed, rooms cleared for masons and bookcase designs (approved by a Sub-Committee) finalised (sketch included). Bleek sets aside private items as requested and lists publications he is sending, including works by Thompson, Marquard and Layard. He remarks on the dormant Colenso controversy and the Bishop of Natal's "pluckiness". He has sent "Reynard the Fox in South Africa" to his publisher and expects Grey to receive his Latin Etymology. He ends with health updates-his own colds and concern for Jemima-and signs off with his "best love", affection and gratitude.
