A letter from missionary linguist William S Lewis to Wilhelm Bleek, sent from Wrexham on 15 July 1869. Lewis thanks Bleek for his "A Comparative Grammar of South African Languages", praising his patient labour. In response to Bleek's earlier enquiry, he lists and briefly discusses several publications on the Khasi language, along with a few remarks on the Khasi people and the limited literature about them. He regrets being unable to send his own "Grammar", as no copies are available - though one might be copied in Calcutta. Includes an envelope addressed to "Mr Franklin" of the "Depository B & F [British and Foreign] Bible Society" in Blackfriars, London; the address for William S Lewis is written on what is possibly the reverse of the envelope.
