Correspondence

A letter from Edwin Norris to Wilhelm Bleek, dated 1 November 1862 and sent from the Foreign Office. Norris explains an administrative delay in sending payment for Bleek's "Comparative Grammar" due to his absence travelling in Cornwall. He returned to a heavy workload and is also preparing for his son's departure to India. Nearly 70, Norris feels fatigued and has only glanced at Bleek's "Grammar" and letter from 13 September. Pleased that Bleek is studying cuneiform, he encourages him to focus on Assyrian. He mentions working on three long documents and, anticipating possible retirement, provides forwarding details for future correspondence. A final postscript notes his health has improved enough to send the letter.
