Dictionary & Lexicons Icon Dictionary & Lexicons Lexicons in the Digital Bleek and Lloyd includes the dictionary work of Wilhelm Bleek, Lucy Lloyd, and the later work of Dorothea, and holds the Bushman studies dictionaries in their reassembled form. BC151 Series A is foremost the collection of the researchers’ notebooks and contains several sets of language dictionaries conserved in drawers and boxes as lexicon queue cards, compiled with the handwritten volumes of early Bushman, ‘Hottentot’ (|xam and !kun), notebooks by WHI Bleek and Lucy Lloyd between 1870 and 1910. The collection subsequently grew with the Bushman research by Dorothea Bleek for ‘A Bushman Dictionary’. Due to the immensity of lexicon cards, the dictionaries now have their own collective space combining with the additional languages studied by DF Bleek and other authors between 1910 and 1948.
